Mrs. Vernon Humphrey Swindell, 99, of Sparta, passed away March 2, 2010, at Life Care Center of Sparta.
Mrs. Swindell was born June 11, 1910, in White County, to Winfield and Elizabeth Grissom Humphrey. She was a homemaker and a member of Spring Hill The Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lester Swindell; son, Earl Swindell; granddaughter Teresa Swindell, an infant son; and an infant daughter.
Survivors include her son, Ben Swindell and wife Carolyn, of Walling; daughter, Mildred Alcorn and husband Fred, of Sparta; daughter-in-law, Judy Swindell, of Sparta; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., March 4, 2010, at Hunter Funeral Home, with burial in Springhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 10 a.m., March 4, at the funeral home. Frank Randolph will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Don Swindell, David Swindell, Darren Swindell, Derek Zooashkiyani, Steve McReynolds and Thom Booton.
