Ruth Marie Ampey left this world today, June 27, 2014. Ruth was born December 1, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois, to George Wilks Sayers and Bertha Marie Mears. She overcame extreme poverty and challenging childhood, to become the kind, generous and loving person that we all know. Ruth went on in life to marry Clarence John Ampey, of Cassopolis, Michigan on December 17, 1957.

Ruth gave life and love to her seven children, Diana Rettig of Clovis, NM; Bonnie Reed, (Chris), of Middleburg, FL; Ronald Ampey, (Rosie), of Cassopolis, MI; Karen VanKuren, (Gary), of Clovis, NM; Martha Kemp, (Roger), of Decatur, MI; Delores Hammons, (Jon), of Clovis, NM; and Sharon Ampey-Phillips of Clovis, NM, who in turn gave her fourteen grandchildren and twelve and two thirds great-grandchildren. All of whom live on to tell the stories of her life. She also has a very dearly loved brother, Norman Howard Jr. and sister in law, Anne, of Richmond MN. There are also many nieces and nephews that have all known her love.

Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband Clarence John Ampey of 54 years. Her parents, her sister Virginia Holiday, and her niece Melody Mae Wiedo.

Ruth enjoyed her family most of all. She also found great joy in spending time with her many friends and attending Friendship Senior Center of Clovis, NM. She will be remembered most for her ability to accept whatever came her way and was always thankful for the little things. Ruth tried to make this world a nicer place to be, and in her passing she has asked for you to do the same by contributing to the children's charity of your choice.

A private family service was held at Steed-Todd Funeral Home in Clovis, NM. Ruth will be laid to rest in Cassopolis, MI, beside her husband, following a funeral service at the Calvin Community Church on Mount Zion.
