FROSTBURG ‹ Emma Filsinger Bennett, 83, of Frostburg, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1999, at Memorial Hospital. She had been a resident of Frostburg Village Nursing Home.
Born on Jan. 12, 1916, in Eckhart Mines, she was the daughter of the late George and Estella (Porter) Filsinger. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Geatz and her second husband, Paul Bennett; and one sister, Margaret Holsinger.
Mrs. Bennett was a retired beautician. She was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ, Frostburg Women of the Moose, Chapter 221, Pythian Sisters of Gaithersburg, life member of American Legion Auxiliary, and the Ladies of the Elks.
Surviving are three sisters, Ruth Offutt, Frederick, Frances Filsinger Lewis, Eckhart, and Barbara Tomsic, Eckhart; one brother, George E. Filsinger, II, and wife, Joan, Lakeland, Fla.; 13 nieces and nephews, including Joey Stakem and Peggy Getty; 26 great-nieces and nephews; and 13 great-great-nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation. The body will be cremated.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Zion United Church of Christ, Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Diane Smith, officiating.
Inurnment will be in Eckhart Cemetery.
