Mr. Richard Ray Arnett, age 73, of Elizabethton died Sunday, July 22, 2012 at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following a brief illness.

A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late Archie and Vada Mann Arnett. Mr. Arnett was retired as a route supervisor with Kern's Bakery. He was a member of Zion Baptist Church. Mr. Arnett enjoyed working with antique automobiles.

Survivors include two sons, Mark Arnett and wife Sherry, Todd Arnett and wife Tabitha, all of Elizabethton; a daughter, Tammy Gardner and husband Wayne, Lexington, SC; the mother of his children, Barbara Arnett Charles, Johnson City; nine grandchildren, Heather Nobles, Hannah Gardner and Lindsey Gardner, all of Lexington, SC; Logan Loveless Arnett, Devan Loveless Arnett, Zaylor Arnett, Tyler Arnett, Dustin Arnett and Shannon Arnett Jr., all of Elizabethton and five great-grandchildren, Braysin Loveless Arnett, Halyn Grace Nobles, Graham Nobles, Ashlyn Morell and Noah Morell; his special friend, Linda Buchanan and their son, Tracey Buchanan, Elk Park, NC.

Funeral service for Mr. Richard Ray Arnett will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 25, 2012 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation

Services with Rev. Charlie Trivette officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday prior to the funeral service or at his residence at other times.

Committal and entombment service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, July 26, 2012 in Happy Valley Memorial Park, Mausoleum of Peace. Active pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be J.C. Harr, Roger Ledford, Kenneth Mann, Mike Blevins, Eddie Guinn, Jack Rush, Charles Ledford, Bill Maynard, Stephen Salyer, Richard Loveless, Jim Ollis, Bud McKeehan and Farrell Hughes. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 12:15 P.M. on Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery.

The family would like to invite Richard's friends with their antique automobiles and members of the Carter County Car Club to join in the procession (rain or shine) to the cemetery.
