She was a member of Southern Missionary Baptist Church. She worked at Decca Rercords for five years and twenty-seven years at PRC Recording. Dorothy really enjoyed attending the annual PRC Reunion . She just attended one recently. She also worked seventeen years at McSherr Group Home, retiring at age seventy-four. Dorothy loved nature and she always had a nice yard and flowers, and kept an emaculant home.
Dorothy leaves behind her five children: Karla Chasteen of Georgia, Vicki Chasteen (husband RIchard Tincher, Lesa (Mark)Stamper, Michael (Ann Marie) Chasteen, Prudence (Eric)) Kernsek; Grandchildren: Thomas, Gabriel, Reile, Ethan, Sophia, Malia, and Luke; great grandchildren: Julian and Gabriel Allen Stamper; lots of very special nieces and nephews and their children; two sisters-in-law: Vivian Smith and Gale Smith; and several cousins.
Dorothy loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She wanted a large family and was blessed to have everyone.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband and father of her children: Carl E. Chasteen Sr.; one son: Carl E. Chasteen Jr.; her sister: Ruth Sams and five brothers: Jesse, Russell, John, Bennett and McClellian.
Dorothy will be laid to rest at Abington Cemetery, following private services at Community Family Funeral Home. Family and friends will gather at Dorothy's home to pay their respects and celebrate her life following graveside services.
