Opal Barnett
Opal Catherine Goudelock Durham Barnett, 73, of Whitney died Friday, February 2, at a Waco hospital. She was born December 13, 1927 in Louisiana, daughter of Thomas Olan and Opal Lula Dailey Goudelock. She had worked for A.L. Semtner Drug Company, Frito-Lay and Dallas Abstract and Title Company and had lived for many years in New Mexico in the Grand Canyon area. She was a member of Rebekkah Lodge of Dallas and of the Episcopal faith. Survivors include: six children and their spouses, Dixie Griffith of San Antonio, Michelle and Linda Durham, Faye (Chickie) and A.J. Forman and Tommy and Jessie Durham, all of Whitney, and Diana and Butch Frank Settles of Milford; two brothers, Thomas E. Goudelock of Forney and David Magnuson of Dallas; 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 4, at Whitney Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Lake Whitney Humane Society.
