Thomas Baxter, 62, 120 N.E. North Ave., Hallandale, Florida, a former area resident, died Wednesday at a Veterans Administration Hospital. He was born October 4, 1918 in Illinois. Mr. Baxter was a veteran of service during World War II and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Survivors include his wife, the former Geneva McKinstry; one daughter, Crystal Odom of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; two sons, Donald Backi of Georgia and James Langlois of Illinois; his mother, Greta Theisen of Florida; five grandsons; and one brother, Guy Willis Baxter of Texas. Visitation at the Marshall – Hub Funeral Home will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick Church, Momence, by the Rev. Dennis Settles. Burial will be in Union Corners Cemetery. Memorials in Mr. Baxter's name may be made to the Cancer Fund and to Disabled American Veterans.
