Mr. Allen retired from Granite City Steel and proudly served his country with the United States Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Granite City Masonic Lodge No. 877 and enjoyed his days of bowling, golfing, country line dancing, collecting gadgets and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Obert Devere and Mamie, nee Ballard, Allen; his wife, Helen, nee Tyler, Allen who died in 1993; and three sisters, Eula Wickey, Lucille Basden and Edna Rider.
Surviving are his daughter, Patricia (Brad) Werths of Edwardsville, Ill.; stepchildren, Celia (Noble) Lomax of Union, Mo., Fred (Jane) Ybarra of Reeds Spring, Mo., and Joe (Jennifer) Ybarra of Stoughton, Wis.; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; special friend and companion, Jane Duncan of Granite City, Ill.; other extended family and friends.
Burial with military rites will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon, Ill.
