My great grandpa (James Edson Poole)saw her for the first time when he was 17 years old. She was sitting on a log while her husband was cutting wood. She was pregnant, and he thought she was the prettiest woman he had ever seen. A few years later in January 1884, her husband George was killed in a logging accident and when he heard about it, he found her and started courting her. They were married about 1885 under Indian law and no record of the union has been found. (Karen Miller)
Jim and Nora had 6 children: Elmer O'Conner, Melachi K., Arvilla Viola "Peggy", Dola Isabelle "Lady Bug", Henry Harrison Dewey, and Miami May.
