Marcella Hildegard Cole was born to Martin and Elnora Mettler on June 20, 1918 in Janesville, Minnesota. Marcella attended school through the eighth grade during the early years. Marcella worked as a nanny and maid for local families. The family moved to Waseca, Minnesota and Marcella began to work as a housekeeper and kitchen helper on nearby farms. She then moved to Mankato, Minnesota and began working various jobs, among them were factory worker, fry cook and hotel housekeeper. She was a member of the Holy Rosary Parish in Mankato.

Marcella loved to dance and this was how she met Harry Cole, a retired farmer. Harry and Marcella were married at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on June 26, 1965. No children were born to this marriage but Harry had five children from a previous marriage. Harry passed away Nov. 28, 1989 and Marcella lived alone in Mankato.

She enjoyed cooking, sewing, traveling, collecting knick-knacks and playing slots at the casino. During later years, Marcella moved to Nebraska where she lived with her friends Patricia and Gary Pope.

Marcella went to Belle Terrace in July, 2010 and due to health issues she passed away at the Johnson County Hospital in Tecumseh Dec. 30, 2010 at the age of 92.

Marcella is survived by her stepchildren, Jacqueline Park, Geraldine Zimmerman, Stanley Cole, Lynn Cole, and special freinds, Patricia and Gary Pope of Tecumseh.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harry Cole, step-son Donald Cole and brothers and sisters.

Funeral services held at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tecumseh on Jan. 4, 2011. Interment was in the St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery, Tecumseh, NE.
