SETTLER OF NEWTON DIES
Carl Zinkel, one of the earlier day settlers of the town of Newton and a resident of the county five decades or more, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Andrew Junk, of St. Wendell Sunday morning at the advanced age of 80 years. The body is at the home of his son Henry Zinkel, 1222 South Ninth street from where the funeral will be held Wednesday morning to Silver Lake. The funeral party will leave the South Ninth street residence at 8:30 and services at Silver Lake will be held at 9:30.
Mr. Zinkel's death followed an operation which he recently underwent and from which he was unable to rally because of his age. Born at Buffalo, New York, Nov. 15, 1844 Mr. Zinkel located in Wisconsin in youth and had made his home on a farm in Newton until three years ago since which time he had lived with his daughter at St. Wendell.
Besides his aged widow Mr. Zinkel is survived by six children, John at Escanaba, Charles and Eddie at Newton, Mrs. Mary Junk, St. Wendell, Henry, of this city and Mrs. Margaret Kohlman, of Rapids.
