ZANESVILLE NATIVE
Rev Father William A Fincel O. P., 72 subprior of St. Joseph's Priory of Somerset died at 7:40 P M Friday at Good Samaritan Medical Center following a long illness.
Born July 31, 1900 in Zanesville. Father Fincel was the son of William L. and Mary Kenney Fincel. He graduated from St Thomas High School and studied for the priesthood at St Joseph's and St Rose Priories the later in Springfield, Kentucky, Dominican House of Studies and Catholic University all in Washington,D. C.
Father Fincel was ordained June 9, 1927 at St Dominic Church in Wasington D.C. He formerly had served as president and teacher at Fenwick High School in Oak Park, Ill.
His pastorates included Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Somerset and St Gertrude's Church in Cincinnati. He had also done missionary work on the West Coast and throughout the United States
Surviving are his stepmother Mrs. Myrtle Fincel of White Cottage, a sister Mrs. Dorothy Hibbs of Phoenix Arizona, and 2 half sisters Mrs. Burdeen Higgenbottom of White Cottage, Mrs. Juanita Pierce of Columbus.
Concelebrated Mass will be held at 11 A M Tuesday at St Joseph's Church in Somerset and burial will be in St Joseph's Priory Cemetery
