From Der Nord Westen, 14 May 1891:
Death of Oswald Tuerpe, a resident of Cleveland. He had gone to Sheboygan on Sun. and had started home that evening with his stepson, Robert Belitz. Somehow the wagon overturned and he was found in the road, dead of a broken neck. His senseless son was taken to St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan. Mr. Tuerpe, age 44, came to America about 15 yrs. ago from Germany on a concert tour with a military band.
After leaving the band he settled in Centerville, then married the widow Belitz who had a guesthouse in Kiel. He was buried yesterday in the Kiel Cemetery. He is survived by his widow, 3 stepchildren, and in Germany by his mother and a brother who is cornet virtuoso Hugo Tuerpe.

Oswald Tuerpe, a Centerville Hotel-keeper Instantly Killed
Sheboygan, Wis., May 10. – This afternoon, while Oswald Tuerpe, a hotel-keeper at Centerville station, and his step-son, Robert Belitz, were driving home from this city, the horses ran away, and Mr. Tuerpe was thrown from the buggy and instantly killed. The accident occurred near the iron works, about two miles from the city, and while going down a steep hill. Both men were thrown out, and Mr. Belitz was badly injured internally. He was brought to a hospital here, and it is thought he will recover. Mr. Tuerpe's neck was probably broken, as he was dead when picked up, a moment after the accident.
Oswald Tuerpe for a number of years resided at Kiel. He held the position of postmaster under Cleveland.
