Gertrude graduated from Kiel High School in 1935. She then attended Sheboygan Business College for two years.
On 7th March, 1942, she married Frederick Stoelting at St.Peter's U.C.C.,Kiel.
She was an active member of St.Peter's U.C.C. where she was a member of the Woman's Guild, church choir, taught Sunday School and Bible School and served two terms on the Consistory.
She was also active with the Kiel Study Club and the Kiel Homemakers. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, flowers, quilting, needle craft, painting and cooking.
Children: John (Bonnie) of rural Elkhart Lake, Mary (Dwight) York of Nekoosa,WI, David(Jeanne)of Kiel, and Ruth (Peter) Gloede of Inverness,Ill.,two AFS daughters:Marisa Olivares of Lima,Peru and Gul Tasman of Istanbul, Turkey.
Sibling: Raymond Maurer of Kiel.
