Berlyn Mavel, 85, of rural Noble, died at 7:10 p.m. Thursday, January 7, 1999 at St. Anthony Hospital in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Noble with Rev. Bill Rennels and Bro. Gene Everett officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hanna Cemetery in rural Noble
Memorials may be made to Glenwood Church or the American Cancer Society.

Mr. Marvel was born March 6, 1913 in Noble, the son of Reuben and Docia (Hanna) Marvel. He married Monette White November 8, 1934 in Hammond, Ind.

He is survived by his wife, one son, Russell G. Marvel and his wife, Shari of Effingham; one daughter, Carmen Lee Yates and her husband, Kelly of Elizabethtown, Ky.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, James; two brothers and three sisters.
