HERMAN ROEHR

Herman Roehr, 66, former Kiel fire chief and president of the Kiel Savings and Loan Association, passed away Sunday evening at his home, 814 3rd St., Kiel.
He was born in Kiel on Sept. 30, 1887, the son of Frederick and Wilhelmina Mathes Roehr. He was married to the former Miss Ella Gruhle of Kiel on Oct.
7, 1916. The couple always made their home in Kiel.
Mr. Roehr was a charter member of the Kiel Savings and Loan Association and served as president at the time of his death. He was one of the few remaining members of the old Kiel Arion Band, a charter member of the Kiel Improved order of Redmen and also a member of the Kiel branch of the Equitable Reserve Association. He served as chief of the Kiel fire department for many years prior to his retirement about 15 years ago. He was an honorary member of the department since his retirement.
For 51 years he was employed by the A. A. Laun Furniture Co., as a band saw operator.
Mr. Roehr was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church and was a former trustee and elder of the congregation. He was a member of the Men's Club of the church.
The survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Norbert (Gladys) Rock of Kiel, and Mrs. James (Betty) Weber of New Holstein; four grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Mary Behrends of Plymouth.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Allen L. Bowe officiating. Burial will be made in the Kiel cemetery.
Friends may call at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home from 3 p.m Tuesday to 10 a.m. Wednesday. The body will lie in state at the church from 11 a.m. to the time of services on Wednesday.
