ERVIN H. REESE

Ervin H. Reese of 604 Third St., Kiel, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on November 30, 2005 at Calumet Medical Center, Chilton, three days short of his 85th birthday.

Ervin had been a resident of Calumet Homestead Retirement Center, New Holstein the past six months. Ervin was born December 3, 1920 in the Town of Rantoul, son of the late Willie C. and Lizzie M. Kroepp Reese. He attended New Holstein High School. Ervin was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II from September 24, 1942 until September 26, 1945 obtaining the rank of Petty Officer 3rd Class Gunners Mate. He married Lucille Popp on March 27, 1950 at First Presbyterian Church, Kiel, with Rev. Ernest Nelson officiating.

Ervin was employed at the former Leverenz Shoe Co., New Holstein for 13 years and then worked for the City of Kiel for 34 years retiring in 1986. The couple also has owned and operated Quality Monuments, Kiel for the past 50 years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Kiel, serving as a trustee, deacon and elder.
Ervin enjoyed gardening, spending time in the outdoors, especially camping, reading, anything to do with cement work, the companionship of his dogs and earlier in his
life, riding his 1941 Harley Davidson.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years and eight months, Lucille L., of Kiel; two daughters, Linda L. (Kevin) Smith, Alliston, Ontario, Canada and Ruthie R. (Steve) Rumpff, Kiel; four grandchildren, Angel, Tyler, Ashley and Alyssa; one brother, Martin L. (Flora) Reese, Kiel; one sister, Bette Sabatino, Staten Island, NY; one brothers-in-law, Raymond R. Popp and his wife, Lorraine of Kiel; two sisters-in-law, Josephine Reese, New Holstein and Lorraine Reese, Brillion; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one sister, Mary; four
brothers, Fred, Bill, Richard and Robert and a son-in-law, "Smitty".

Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 3, 2005 at First Presbyterian Church, Kiel with the Rev. Marcia Thomas officiating. Burial took place in the Kiel City Cemetery.
