Mrs. Long was born May 14, 1919, in Clay City, the daughter of Charles H. and Indiana Bothwell Powell. She married Silas M. "Cy" Long January 18, 1942, in Fort Lewis, Wash.
She was a high school teacher in Clay City, starting her career in the Clay City Elementary School, teaching for 35 years. She was a member of the Clay City United Methodist Church , Illinois Retired Teachers Assoc., Clay County Retired Teachers Assoc., Vansans Trace Chapter of the DAR, and National DAR Society.
Survivors include two sons, Silas M. Jr. and William P. Long; a daughter, Joyce Ann Eaton; and six grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents and one brother.
Funeral services were held at the Clay City United Methodist Church with burial in the Clay City Cemetery.
