Lynn Thompson
Lynn Thompson, age 62, a longtime resident of Gary, SD, passed away December 31, 1987 at a Watertown, SD hospital. Mr. Thompson was born September 23, 1925 at Brookings, SD, to Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Thompson. As a child, he moved with his parents to the Canby-Marietta area of Minnesota. He attended schools in Canby and Marietta. He married Doris Kieniger of September 2, 1945 at Canby. He farmed at Gary, SD, and raised registered quarter horses. He was employed in law enforcement for 12 years, serving the Gary and Clear Lake communities as policeman and Deuel County as Deputy Sheriff and Sheriff.
Mr. Thompson was a member of the united Methodist Church in Gary. He was also a member of the Registered Quarter Horse Association and was a member of A.A. for 23 years. He was a past member of the Township Board of Manfred Township, MN.
He is survived by his wife, Doris of Gary; one son, Larry of Milbank; one daughter, Mrs. Greg (Rita) Miller of Watertown; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister. Funeral services were held on January 4, 1988 at 2 pm at the United Methodist Church, Gary, SD, with Rev. Russell Peirce officiating.
