Rites for Korea Accident Victim had been scheduled. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Wednesday in the Lisle Chapel in Fresno, for PFC James Thomas Gower' 2L a Firebaugh soldier who was killed accidentally in North Korea December 5, 1953. The Rev James Baker of the Firebaugh First Baptist Church will conduct the rites and burial will be in the Liberty Cemetery, Young Gower was wounded fatally by a shot from a 45-caliber pistol in the hands of a fellow soldier. The accident occurred in a bunker area in the Chorwon Valley. His body was returned here yesterday. His commanding officer wrote his father and stepmother Mr. and Mrs. Gower residents of Firebaugh, California for the past two years that the soldier served his country with honor, and He lived in Firebaugh, California for about four months but was called into the US Army from Steamboat Springs, Colorado about a year ago. He was trained at Fort Riley, Kansas. He reached senior student standing in the San Jose High School after attending the Gypsy Okla High School Private. His mother had passed previously in 1944. Surviving besides his father are brother Edward of Hayward, Alameda County and six sisters Mrs. Marcella Isley of Riverside, Mrs. Berdean Brock of San Luis Obispo, Mrs. Delores Maxwell of Fontana, San Bernardino County, Mrs. June Fairbanks of Colton, San Bernardino County, and Mrs. Willetta Flannery and Mrs. Bonnie Borthick both of Oklahoma.
