Margaret Wade (Thomas) Shockley, age 84 of Mountain View, Missouri passed away on Sunday, October 17, 2010 at the Mountain view Health Care.

She was born January 7, 1926 at Russellville, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Troy A. And Estaline (Sholar) Thomas.

The family moved to Garden City, Kansas when Margaret was quite young. They stayed there until she was 9, then they moved to Mammoth Spring, Arkansas.

When Margaret was 10, the family moved to the Eminence area, where she finished grade school at Owls Bend.

She graduated from Eminence High School as Valedictorian in 1945. She received her Bachelors of Science in Education from Arkansas State University at Jonesboro, Arkansas.

Margaret taught school for 42 years. The schools were: Button Rock, Owls Bend, Wildwood, Forest Glen, Montier and Mtn. View-Birch Tree, where she and her husband, Wilbert Shockley, taught for 40 plus years.

She and Wilbert had a positive influence on many young lives.

She and Wilbert retired from teaching in 1988.

Margaret married her classmate, Wilbert Shockley in 1947. To this union, twin daughters were born, but died shortly after birth.

Preceding her in death were grandparents, mother and father, two brothers, Billy and Everett Thomas, twin daughters, husband Wilbert, four brothers-in-law, William Linhart, W.D. Pryor, Radford Keeling and Jack Shockley; and nephew, Stanley Keeling.

She leaves the following: two brothers, one sister, two sisters-in-law, she is also survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, also great great nieces and nephews.

Margaret belonged to the First Christian Church of Summersville, where she taught the primary class for several years.

She loved gardening, cooking, fishing and working with a volunteer group in the Health Care Nursing Home. Margaret will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 21, 2010 at 10 AM at Bradford Funeral Home Chapel in Summersville.

Interment will be in Summers Cemetery under the care of Bradford Funeral Home of Summersville.
