Wylie N. Bledsoe was the son of William and Helen (Jenkins) Bledsoe. He was born on April 10, 1880 in Alabama.William was born 1 August 1851 at Chambers County, Alabama and passed away 19 November 1938 in Texas. Helen was born in Alabama in November 1852.
MILITARY RECORD:
Enlisted July 25, 1901 at Sulphur Springs, Texas. Assigned to 29th Company, U.S. Coast Artillery. Discharged September 6, 1902 at Presidio as a Private. Again enlisted on January 30, 197 at Ft. Wright, Wn, Assigned to Company "D of 29th U.S. Infantry. Discharged January 29, 1910 at Ft. Porter, New York with rank of private. Again enlisted Feb. 12, 1910 at Ft. Logan, Colorado, assigned to Company "L" of 18th U.S. Infantry, and discharged November 24, 1912 at Ft. MacKenzie, Wyoming with rank of Private. Pension awarded on Certificate No. 1289,070.
15 January 1919, at SaltLakeCityin utah, Wylie married Mabel Martha Hoggan. They remained together until her death in 1921.
Someone claiming to be his ex-wife, Hettie Sachs Bledsoe, wrote the Veterans Home in 1941 that they had been married prior to September 1922. She was seeking clarification of Mr. Bledsoe's birthplace. No other wife can be found except his fist, Mabel.
A painter by occupation, he was 61 years old and a widower when he applied for admission to the Washington Veterans' Home in 1928. He had one son living, Bruce Bledsoe of Salt Lake City, Utah.
Mr. Bledsoe, 60, died July 12, 1940, at the Washington Veterans' Home Hospital. He is buried in the Home Cemetery.
