Skip D. Followell, 61, Weldon, Illinois, died at 10:14 a.m. Monday, November 30, 2009, at his family residence.
He was born October 31, 1948 in Monticello, Illinois to Fred "Jake" and Geneva Galloway Followell. He married Ruth Cannon on May 5, 1966 in Danville, Illinois. She survives.
He is also survived by his children, Robert Wayne (Julie) Followell, Christopher Allan (Shelly) Followell, Terry Dean (Beth) Followell, Eric Shane (Sherry) Followell, and Nicole (Travis) Boley, brothers and sisters, Betty Foley, Robert Followell, Elmer Followell, and Frances Tomes, Erma Hopper, Tom Followell and Finisa Foltz, 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Lloyd and one sister, Alice Mae.
He was a member of Weldon Lions Club and Labor Local 703 and a Nixon Township trustee. He was a devoted husband, dad and papa who enjoyed spending time with his family which he was proud of. He enjoyed being outdoors with his beloved dog, Annie. He was a proud Democrat and true to his labor union.
