Miss Branson Expires Today
Miss Bernice Branson, 62, a lifelong resident of the Carthage community, died at 6:40 a.m. today in Rush Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient since January 22 after an illness of nine weeks.
Miss Branson, whose home was at 4 South East Street in Carthage, formerly was employed as a stenographer at the old paper mill there.
She was born in Ripley Township on October 24, 1904, the daughter of Fletcher and Flora Northam Branson. After graduating from Carthage High School in 1923, she later was graduated from Central Business College in Indianapolis.
Miss Branson was a member of Fletcher Methodist Church in Carthage.
Survivors are a brother, Robert J. Branson of Knightstown; two uncles, Chester Northam of Rushville and Clarence Northam of Arlington, and an aunt, Mrs. Everett Hester of Arlington. A brother, Marlin, preceded her in death.
The Rev. Stanley Palicki will conduct services as 2 p.m., Thursday at the Hampton Mortuary in Carthage, where friends may call after 2 p.m. Wednesday, with burial in Little Blue River Wesleyan Methodist Cemetery.
