Cornelius Bryan, the son of Peter and Rosannah Keith Bryan was born 10/19/1842 in Morgan County, OH. Both of his parents died in 1851 near Dubuque, IA. Cornelius was living with his uncle Cornelius in Delaware County, IA in 1856. He enlisted, 8/14/1861, in the 2nd Iowa Cavalry and the regiment was in training at Davenport, IA. A few months later, on 10/27/1861, the 19 year-old Cornelius died of disease at Davenport and he was one of the earliest burials at what would become the Rock Island National Cemetery in Rock Island, IL.
