Alice Gibson Garrett Bowen, 88, of Columbus, GA passed away Wednesday January 11, 2012 at Vista Care Hospice.
Graveside funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday January 13, 2012 at Parkhill Cemetery according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907. The family will receive friends This evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Bowen was born May 11, 1923 in Marion County, GA daughter of the late Clifford C. Grimes and Lucinda Dobbs Grimes and was also preceded in death by her husbands, Ralph D. Gibson, Sr., John Garrett, Lowell Bowen, her siblings Eddie Lou Day, Hazel Taylor, Gertrude Ward, Josephine King, Gene Grimes and Lem Grimes. Mrs. Bowen was a homemaker, a 1943 graduate of Jordan High School and a member of Morningside Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sons, Ralph D. Gibson Jr. (Barbara) of Abilene, TX, Ron Gibson (Dorothy) of Fortson, GA, Edward Gibson (Tina) of Columbus, her daughter, Cindy Funderburk (Craig) of Columbus, her sister, Jewel Pope of Pensacola, FL, her brother, Bill Grimes of Columbus, 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
