Mildred M. Adkinson, 86, Garnett, a native and longtime resident of Greeley, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005, in the Anderson County Long Term Care Facility in Garnett.
The daughter of Frank and Margaret Hochstatter Miller, she was born April 6, 1918, in Greeley where she grew up and lived until moving to Garnett in 1979.
She worked as a cook in St. John's School and as a clerk at Oswald Liquor Store, both in Greeley. After moving to Garnett, she worked as a bookkeeper at Mersman's Conoco.
She married Rex Adkinson and they became the parents of six children. They were later divorced.
Mrs. Adkinson was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and Altar Society in Greeley before moving to Garnett. She then joined the Holy Angels Catholic Church and Altar Society.
Those preceding her in death included two sons, Dale Adkinson and Pat Adkinson; a brother, Don Miller; and a sister, Lorene Rockers.
Survivors include a son, Don Adkinson of Lenexa; three daughters, Jean Mersman of Garnett, Lois Adams of Olathe and Linda Adkinson of Waverly, Kan.; a brother, Harold Miller of Greeley; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Services were Friday in St. John's Catholic Church, followed by burial in St. John's Cemetery, both in Greeley.
