Rosarita E. Baca, age 86, a resident of Bosque Farms, New Mexico, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2007.

She was born in La Joya, New Mexico. Rosarita was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Peralta, New Mexico, the Altar Society, the Church Music Ministry, Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in La Joya and the New Mexico Educational Retirement Association.

She was formerly of Socorro, New Mexico and worked for the Socorro Consolidated Schools as a Bilingual Coordinator for many years, and also the Belen Consolidated Schools. Rosarita was indeed a woman ahead of her times. She was a loving and compassionate mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Rosarita was always devoted to her family, friends and church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis C. Baca; son, Eloy J. Baca; parents, Leandro and Marillita Esquibel; sister, Ferminia E. Lovato and brothers, Emilio and Victor Esquibel. Rosartia is survived by her children, Mary Lee Charlton and her husband, Gerald, Theresa Gabel, Dennis James Baca and Margaret Butler; grandchildren, Dr. Gerald Charlton and his wife, Tes, William Baca, Brian Charlton, Linda Kier, Dr. Gregory Charlton and his wife, Sarah, Nicholas Gabel and Julia Baca; great-grandchildren, Justin, Lauren and Jackson Lee, Emma Kier, Victoria, Amanda, Michaela, Dominic and Olivia Charlton and her siblings, Dulcinea Peralta and Patricio Esquibel and his wife, Amelia and many numerous loving nieces and nephews.

For the past two years Rosarita was lovingly cared for by her full-time care-giver, Rosario Ochoa. "Muchisimas Gracias por el amor y carino que le deo Rosario a la nava".

A viewing will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on Thursday, January 4, at 6:30 p.m. followed by a rosary at 7:00 p.m. A final visitation will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church on Friday, January 5, at 11:00 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. with Father Vincent Nicosia. Interment will follow at La Joya Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dr. Gerald Charlton, Brian Charlton, Dr. Gregory Charlton, Nicholas Gabel, Justin Oliver Lee and Fred Sanders. Honorary Pallbearers will be William Baca, Linda Kier and Julia Baca. Romero Funeral Home, 609 N. Main St., Belen.
