Doris Theresa Reeb Morgan
May 7, 1927 – June 1, 2009
Doris Theresa Reeb was born in Dallas on May 7, 1927, the third daughter and sixth child of Charles Lawrence Reeb, a first generation American and World War I veteran, and Thelma Louise Burge Reeb, a devoted mother and homemaker. She grew up in Arcadia Park in West Dallas with a large and loving family that eventually grew to 12 other brothers and sisters, which probably accounted for the smile always on her face and her wonderful sense of humor.
As a young woman, Doris was so beautiful she was hired as a hair style model for Dallas beauticians.
Doris met Mack Lee Morgan, and the two married May 20, 1944 after her graduation from Sunset High School, and while he was serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. After the end of the war, Mack began his career as a Dallas police officer, and the couple raised four children, Theresa, Lois, Richard and Stephen Morgan.
After the couple divorced, Doris became a single, working mother. Her favorite job was for the Army Air Force Exchange Service in Dallas where she worked 22 years before her retirement in 2008. Doris' daughter Lois and her son Stephen both served in the U.S. armed services, and Doris was an active member of American Legion Post 81 in Duncanville where she was a one of the "Golden Girls."
Doris died June 1 at the age of 82 after a long battle with cancer and laid to rest at Laurel Land Cemetery.
Her son, Richard Andrew Morgan, born on April 9, 1952, died August 25, 1994. She is survived by her children, Theresa Mayfield, Lois Morgan and Stephen Morgan.
