M.J. (Steve) Steepleton, 66, of 410 Lasalle drive SW, died Monday after a long illness.
Born Sept. 27, 1910, at Bushnell, Ill., he was a member of St. Jude's Catholic church, a veteran of World war II, and a member of the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus of Vinton. He was a retired employee of Borden Ice Cream Co. He was married on June 1, 1930 to Frances Olive Aten.
Surviving in addition to his wife are five sons, Jerry, James, Steven, Patrick, all of Cedar Rapids, and Joseph, Dubuque; six daughters Mrs. Ralph Peachee, LaPorte, Mrs. Jerry Curtis, Mrs. Richard Metz, Mrs. Thomas Fox, Mrs. David Wilson, and Mrs. John Roemig, all of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Mrs. Russell West, Karney, Mo., and Mabel Easten, Rock Island, Ill.; 26 grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Services: St. Jude's Catholic church Thursday at 9:30 a.m. Burial: Cedar Memorial, with military services at the grave by George Lucky American Legion post of Vinton. Rosary: Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. by Father John Gregory at the Teahan funeral home, where friends may call after 1 p.m. Wednesday.
