On 12 December 1878 a newer church, St. Andrews Drypool, was consecreted and it became the official parish church of Drypool parish. The church of St. Peters Drypool continued to operate as a chapel within Drypool parish. The church of St. Peters Drypool was completely destroyed by bombing in 1941. It is now a park, and a very small number of gravestones still exist and they are along a brick wall in the park.
