Anna Betty "Betty" Christensen Dahlgreen
Birth: Mar. 8, 1928
Baltimore City
Maryland, USA
Death: Mar. 16, 2011
Yuba County
California, USA

Grandma was adopted so the Christensens are her adoptive parents. She was already with them during the 1930 census. We believe that it was a private adoption done through the Danish Seaman's Church in Baltimore, MD. Nothing is known of her biological parents except there is a rumor that the birth mother died of pneumonia soon after giving birth and the birth father put her up for adoption through the church. None of that has been verified at this time.

Anna "Betty" Dahlgreen, 83, of Live Oak, California (formerly of Dobbins, CA and Baltimore, MD) passed away on March 16, 2011 after an extended illness. Betty worked at the Social Security Administration in Maryland for many years before retiring due to health issues. She was a Past Matron of Faith Chapter #77 Eastern Star in Baltimore, Maryland, a former member of Friendship Chapter #55 in Marysville and the last surviving member of the Forget-Me-Not Club of Baltimore. Betty moved to Dobbins in 1987 and was Camp hostess for at Lake Francis (Coast to Coast Park) until they closed. She then moves to Whispering Pine Trailer park on Merriam Road. She was park manager until 2005. She moved to Marysville and lived at Buttes Christian Manor until 2008 when poor health forced her to move to Live Oak Manor. Betty was preceded in death by her parents Jens Martinis Christensen (1966) and Anna Mary (Mickel) Christensen (1956) and by her husbands Sherman Sophus Dahlgreen in 1998, Raymond James Opper in 1956 and George Nelson Struder in 1955. Betty is survived by three children, daughter Barbara (Jones) Rouse of Towson, MD; son Richard J. Dahlgreen and wife Susan of Marysville, CA; and son Martin J. Dahlgreen of Boonsboro, MD; seven grandchildren, Carol (Jones) Chakurda and husband James; Lisa M. Jones of Towson, MD; Richard H. Jones Jr. and wife Sandra of Baltimore, MD; Erik L. Jones of Williamsburg, VA; and Jennifer D. Ramos and husband Carlos D. of Houston, TX; Andrew J. and Tyler D. Dahlgreen of Boonsboro, MD. She is also survived by six great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Keystone Cemetery in Dobbins, California. An Eastern Star service will be at the graveside. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Sutter North Hospice, 400 Plumas Blvd #115, Yuba City, CA 95991. Lipp and Sullivan Funeral Home Marysville, CA is handling the arrangements. Send Condolences at
