Mary Ethelene Bucy, 76, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010, in Houston, Texas. Ethelene was born on July 9, 1934 in Lubbock, Texas, to James Fred Bucy and Sena Ethel Montgomery Bucy.
She is survived by her brother, J. Fred Bucy, Jr.; sister, Charlene Baumgardner; nephews,J.Fred Bucy III, Robert Baumgardner and Karl Baumgardner; nieces, Roxanne Bucy Coogan, Diane Bucy Gruber, Sherrie Haynes and Barbara Baumgardner; and other family members and many dear friends.
Ethelene received her Architecture Degree from Texas Tech and was a member of MENSA. She taught art & art history at St. John's School in Houston for 15 years. After her retirement, she began her own business, Loving Pals, devoted to animal & plant care. She was a woman of varied accomplishments, from becoming a glider pilot to excavating the Balearic Islands, mountain climbing in Peru and being an Outward Bound participant. She most recently became an expert in mycology, butterfly culture and bee-keeping.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, Oct. 18th at 10 a.m. at the Terry County Memorial Cemetery, 1761 CR 430, Brownfield, TX 79316.
