Marion Alton Barrow was born March 6, 1886 to James Ransom Barrow and Thomas "Tommie" Lee Barrow. He was one of 12 siblings.

He married Mary Elizabeth King on December 24, 1904 in Carroll County, Georgia. They had four children: Reedie Othel Barrow, Ruby Barrow, Doris Novalene Barrow, and a still living daughter. Just before her 5th birthday, daughter Ruby became ill with Whooping Cough and passed away.

Marion Barrow was a devout Christian who loved religious music. He instilled that love of music into his children at an early age. He was an active member in his church, and he worked tirelessly in the name of his Lord and Savior. He was a farmer for most of his life.

On July 28, 1944, Marion A. Barrow passed away in an Atlanta, Georgia. The cause of death was Stomach Cancer. He was buried in the cemetery at Antioch Baptist Church in Haralson County, Georgia.
