West Virginia, USA
|Death: ||Apr. 23, 1996|
Virginia was the daughter of Howard and Alta Winters McNinch. She was the oldest child, having four younger brothers: Neil, Dale, Robert Leslie, and Tim. When Virginia was 16, she was stricken with polio and had to be hospitalized. Her 14 year old brother Neil, had shown similar symptoms and died shortly before Virginia's hospitalization. Her life would never be the same. The polio was only the first of many sicknesses and ailments that would plague Virginia for her entire life.
Virginia graduated from Triadelphia High in 1953. She eloped with James Guy on May 14th, 1955 in Wheeling, WV. She was the beloved mother of Kenneth Guy, Penny Lenhart, Kimberly Wiltrout, and Patricia Armstrong. While her children were still young, Virginia and Jim moved the family to Mecca, OH in search of a better life and job prospects for Jim. Virginia lived there the remainder of her life.
Virginia was a talented pianist and played piano for Cortland First Church of God, never once accepting money. She was also the church secretary. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, reading, and puzzles.
Virginia was affectionately known as "Mammaw" to her grandchildren. She was kind and compassionate, sensitive and big-hearted. She went out of her way to show her love to her children and grandchildren. She was taken too soon and is deeply missed by her family.
