Amos Alexander Strange
Birth: Mar. 8, 1833
Spartanburg County
South Carolina, USA
Death: Sep. 30, 1906
Summerville
Chattooga County
Georgia, USA

Amos Alexander Strange and Sarah Ann Knowles were married Nov. 12, 1857, in Chattooga Co., GA. Besides serving as Sunday School superintendent, he was also the song leader for the SC Campground Church.

The following obituary is from the Summerville News, 1906.
-----------------------------------------
In the death of Mr. Alex Strange, Chattooga county loses one among her oldest and best citizens. He was born March 8, 1833, united with the Methodist church at the age of fourteen and faithfully served his Master to the date of his death, Sept. 30th, 1906.

During this time, he was superintendent of the Sunday school at South Carolina Camp Ground for thirty years, and was always found at his post of duty unless providentially hindered. What a record! Fifty-nine years of loyal, loving service for his God, his family, his friends and his country. Since last May, he was afflicted with paralysis , and last Sunday morning he was called to his heavenly home. May the influence of his beautiful Christian character inspire others to live as he lived, and die as he died, a faithful soldier of the cross.

His body was laid to rest, by sorrowing friends, in South Carolina cemetery, his pastor, Rev. J.W. Gober, conducting the funeral services. He is survived by his wife and ten children, Charles, Thomas and Wesley Strange of Lyerly, John Strange, Summerville, Dawson Strange, Pittsburg, Tex., Mrs. J.E. Edwards, of Lyerly, Mrs. George Agnew, of Silver Creek, Mrs. J. M. Abbott, of Acworth, Mrs. Robt. Worsham, of Holland and Mrs. M. J. Carroll of Pittsburg, Tex.
