Hope H. Womack was born Jan. 11, 1844 in Coosa County, Alabama, son of John E. and Nancy Louisa Stone. The family moved to Independence County, Arkansas.
In the Civil War, Hope H. was a private in Co. I, 1rst Reg't. Arkansas Cavalry, CSA. He was paroled at Jacksonport on June 5, 1865. On Jan. 15, 1865, his brother, John C., a CSA soldier, died from his Civil War injuries.
Several months later, Hope married John C.'s widow, Cyrena Lowe Womack. They moved to Woodruff County, AR, and later, about 1870, first to Little Elm, Denton County, then to Trinity Mills, Texas, with their 9 children. In 1888, while working on the Caruth estate in north Dallas, TX, Hope died on June 28, 1888. He is buried in the Caruth Pioneer Cemetery.
