Rose Valentino-Pittman passed away Monday, December 12, 2005 at the age of 77 in Haven Hospice at John F. Kennedy Medical Center in Edison, New Jersey.

Born and raised in the Ironbound section of Newark, New Jersey, Rose moved with her husband Vernon Pittman and their children to Edison, New Jersey in 1968 where she lived the rest of her life.

She was predeceased by her loving parents, Daniel and Maria Petti-Valentino of Newark, New Jersey. Rose was their oldest child of their nine children.

Rose's father Daniel was born in Newark, New Jersey to Italian immigrants, Giuseppe and Rosina Valentino on January 1, 1906.

Rose's mother Maria Petti-Valentino was born in August of 1906 in Nocera Inferiore, Italy and arrived in America on March 13, 1907 at the age of 7 months old with her older sister Anna a/k/a Gaetana Petti and their mother, Rose's grandmother, Teresa a/k/a Tessie LaMagna-Petti to meet Rose's grandfather Raffaele Petti in Newark, New Jersey.

Rosie, as her family affectionately called her, was predeceased her cherished youngest brother Alfred Daniel Valentino who died on April 18, 1988 in Middlesex, New Jersey and her youngest sister Linda Valentino who died on March 1, 1950 in Newark, New Jersey - she was only 5 days old.

Surviving Rosie are her beloved husband of 45 years, Vernon Pittman, daughters, Linda Pizzaia, Rosemary Pittman-McLaughlin, Lisa Ann Pittman, and son Edward Pittman, as well as sister, Theresa Valentino-Molinari and her brothers, Joseph, Daniel, Ralph, Leonard and Anthony Valentino.

She was the loving grandmother of seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and the dear aunt of many nieces and nephews.

After a funeral wake from the Flynn and Son/Koyen Funeral Home at 319 Amboy Avenue, Metuchen, New Jersey, a service for Rose was held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 15, 2005 in the Church of Jesus Christ, located in Edison, New Jersey.
