Zephaniah Stout Bryant was born in April 1813 in Lyons, New York to James Bryant and Cathrine Simson Stout.
He was married first to Hannah Walker and they had one daughter, Mary Catherine Bryant. Hannah died and Zephaniah (Z.S.) then married Sarah Ann Brown 1845 in Indiana. The family moved west about 1851, settling in Columbia County, Oregon, where he was the postmaster. About 1885 he, Sarah and their youngest son, Zephaniah Albert, moved with their church group to Minnesota where Zephaniah and Sarah died.
