James Bryan "Jimmy" Hudson, age 68, 443 E. Live Oak Avenue, Pascagoula, died Saturday in Singing River Hospital.

Born April 15, 1900 to Edward F. and Elizabeth Hudson. He was a native of Pascagoula and a member of Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church. Mr. Hudson was the retired Chief of the Pascagoula Fire Department and he was employed as an electrician at Ingalls Shipbuilding. He was a member of the Holy Name Society, OLV, the Knight's of Columbus and the Elk's Lodge #1120 in Pascagoula.

Survivors are his widow; Mrs. Viola (Miller) Hudson, Pascagoula, two daughters; Mrs. Viola L. (Thomas) Hester and Mrs. Joyce M. (Donald) Price, both of Pascagoula, three sons; James "J.T." (Shizuko) Hudson, US Navy, Ca., Robert "Bobby" (Annette) Hudson, Pascagoula and Edward F. (Marge) Hudson, Fraizer Park Ca., one sister; Mrs. Alma L. (James) Schmitt, Mobile, Al., two brothers; Eugene Hudson, Pascagoula and Harry A. Hudson, Oxnard, Ca. and 14 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 30, 1968 at 2:00 pm at Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church in Pascagoula, with Rev. Peter Tormey officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Pascagoula with Jackson County Mortuary directing.

⋰⋱⋰The Hummingbird Accident⋱⋰⋱..ڿڰۣ--ڿڰ✿

On April 17, 1952 Pascagoula's Fire Chief: James "Jimmy" Hudson was injured when his stations brand new fire truck was struck by the steam-liner "The Hummingbird". The sirens drowned out the sound of the trains whistle and Asst. Chief: Klein Thornton did not see the train until seconds before the collision.

Volunteer fireman: Joseph O. Williams was killed instantly and Asst. Chief: H. Klein Thornton died later that day. Fireman: Ocie Dewitt "O.D." Monroe died of his injuries the next day. Chief: James Hudson was was hospitalized with injuries and he suffered a heart attack upon learning the fate of his devoted crew.
