A student at Riverside Military Academy and member of a family well known in this section, Allen T. Ambrose, 18, of Baton Rouge, died in a Atlanta hospital yesterday.
Young Ambrose was stricken some time ago while at school and he was later taken to a hospital in Atlanta and underwent an operation Saturday a week ago. Doctors said he had suffered a ruptured appendix 70 hours before he entered the hospital.
His family left here several days ago and were with him for the operation when he died.
His body is being shipped here and will reach New Orleans tonight. It will be taken here to rest at the Rabenhorst funeral parlors. The funeral will be held from the funeral home Saturday and services will be held at St. Agnes Catholic Church. Buriel will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.
Ambrose is a graduate of Catholic High School and was a star football player. He attended Springhill College last year and this year was his first at Riverside Academy.
Besides his parents he is survived by three sisters, Virda, Jerry and Patsy, and a brother, Jack.

Allen Thomas Ambrose, at Riverside Military Academy in Gainesville, Ga., this year, has received a Merit Ribbon Award for his excellent department record. The award was made at Hollywood, Fla., where the academy has its winter home.
