Elder Rebecca Daniels Collins

Death: Feb. 18, 2005

Gospel Preacher, Church Official, Wife, Mother And Friend. Elder Rebecca Daniels Collins was a dedicated christian full of love, full of faith and full of the Holy Ghost. She truely was a dignified woman and a sanctified woman. Paving the way in the early 60's and 70's for others who would follow during a period when women preachers were not accepted or respected. She often stated "Its more than a pat and a dance". It was her lifestyle and daily walk of faith. Elder was a rare female preacher in the Southwest Georgia area who used street corners, tents and front porches as a method of spreading the message of Jesus Christ from 1964-2004. Although she preached on radio, television, in churches and at The Cathedral, she told the story wherever she found someone that would listen. "My friend" was a term she used because it represented how she regarded people. Her love for others allowed her to look beyond labels and situations and see souls in need of a saviour. Elder Rebecca Collins served in the Independent Holiness Deliverance Churches, Inc. under the leadership of Chief Apostle Isaiah Revills and Shepherd Mother Dr. Ullainee Sanders Revills as they built Evangelical Faith Vision Ministries at the headquarters, The First Albany Deliverance Cathedral in Albany, Georgia. She loved Gospel Music and had a libary of albums and forty-fives from the past. The Mighty Clouds Of Joy,The Jackson Southernaries and The Holy Mighty Crusaders were among her favorites. The Mass Cathedral Choir was the best choir around listening to her talk. For over 45 years Elder Collins, a woman of faith and power made her presence known in many roles in the religious world as she went about doing the master's work. She left behind a legacy of faith and action making her a woman to be remembered. She played musical instruments, preached, prayed for the sick, raised funds and touched the lives of so many she cared for in daycare, homecare and beyond. Early Childhood development was her chosen profession. She did not rust out she worked out until she could no longer do all the things she did before. Even then she would just wave her hands just to say I'm still holding on, fight on. A display with her picture hangs at the Albany Civil Rights Institute And Museum as she was during the early stages of the civil rights movement in America that led to Dr. Martin Luther King coming to Albany, Georgia. Born to Pvt Charlie and Mary Lou Daniels at Sand Brick Yard in East Albany, Georgia, Rebecca Daniels Collins leaves behind sons and daughters friends and loved ones who will be inspired to take up the cause of the gospel and personal growth and make a difference. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. She and her husband, Brother Willie Jones Collins,Sr. passed away just a month apart. They are together again resting in heavenly like places. On February 26, 2005 hundreds of loved ones, saints of God and friends from Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Virginia, New York, Mississippi and other areas of the U.S.A. and Japan came together for her Evangelical Homegoing Celebration at The Cathedral. To God be glory for the things He has done. A park in Albany, Georgia is named in her honor. Rebecca Daniels Collins Memorial Victory Park dedicated in 2013 is located on the corner of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Holloway Avenue.
