Anna (called Annie) was born in the village of Mochnaczka, parish of Nowy Sacz, now in the Malopolska Voivodeship (province) of Poland. She was the daughter of Dymitr (Metro) Stawiski and Fewronia Szopej. Anna arrived, on her own, at the Port of New York aboard the S.S. Main, 12 October 1907. She listed her step-sister Anna Simowa in Terryville, CT, as her destination.

Anna married Sedor Kablesh on 18 Feb. 1911 in Terryville, Litchfield Co., CT. She was working for the Eagle Lock Company (as was her husband) at the time of marriage. While she was baptized Greek Catholic in Poland, she attended or joined Sts. Cyril and Methodius Russian Orthodox Church in Terryville.
