Norman Ellis Creech was the 6th child (of eleven) of Bob and Mary Marlar Creech. As a child, he had little formal education, a lack he made up for in adulthood. He wed Dorothy D. Daniell in 1928, and they had one child, a son James E. Ellis worked for the Missouri Pacific R.R., now part of Union Pacific.
Ellis loved kids, and this granddaughter can attest to him spoiling her rotten. One of Dad's best memories is of the day when he was 10 years old, and his father snuck him aboard the caboose of his train, for a ride to Little Rock and back. It was against the rules, but it gave a little boy a wonderful memory that has lasted over 70 years now. Ellis was also a good carpenter, and he so enjoyed walking. He always owned a car, but walked everywhere he went, thinking nothing of heading off for a place two or three miles distant, afoot, whether going to work, to church, or to the store for a single item. A devout member of the Church of Christ, he was very active in church, teaching Sunday School and adult Bible classes. He passed away at the age of 64 - too soon, of lymphoma in 1972, and is terribly missed by his family and friends.
