`*..*My Loving Nephew...

In loving memory of my nephew,
1980 - 2002

Obituary published in The Dalles Chronicle; February, 2002

David Casey Atkins, 21, a resident of Woodland, Washington, died in The Dalles, Oregon, on Thursday, February 7, 2002.
He was born August 4, 1980 in Goldendale, Washington, to Bruce Jay Atkins and Deborah Ann Newton. He grew up in Vancouver, Washington until moving at the age of 11 to Woodland, where he continued to reside.
After graduating from high school, he worked in construction and was currently preparing to enter the U.S. Navy.
David was a great artist and loved to write and was a born comic, who could make others laugh with his Jim Carrey impressions. He enjoyed pool, bowling and golfing.
He is survived by his Mom and Dad, Deborah and Jake Jacobsen, Woodland, WA; his father, Bruce Atkinis and his wife, Laurie, Goldendale, WA; sister, Shannon Brackenbury and her husband, Brian, of The Dalles; brothers, Reece Jacobsen, Woodland, WA and Michael and Cory Atkins, Goldendale; grandparents, John Hiett, Joseph City, AZ; Catherin Hiett, The Dalles; Charles Newton, Benton, AR; Nadine Thorne, Goldendale; great grandparents, Alma and Jimmy Overton, Benton, AR; aunts, Angie Thomas and Diana Cook, The Dalles and uncles, Doug Thomas, California; Joe Cook and Danial Ezelle, both of The Dalles.
Private family services will be held. Private cremation held at The Dalles Win-Quatt Crematory with Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home in care of arrangements.

A poem written by his mother...

Although it seems we're saying goodbye,
We believe David is not gone.
He may not be here for us to touch
But his spirit is still so strong.

As a spirit that won't be broken,
That will ride on for all time.
This is how we remember you.
A man, a son, a brother
Whom we all loved.

Life without love has no thorns...But life without love also has no roses...
Remember David...
