Winton was the son of Lewis Cass Huson and grandson of William Henry and Mary Reed Huson. He studied law but had to leave school due to illness. Winton died much too soon of TB as did many others in the extended Huson family.

Winton's Obituary, from an uncited, undated New York newspaper:
Winton W. Huson, son of the late Cass Huson, died at the Harpending House, this Saturday afternoon, from consumption, aged 23 years. Mr. Huson was a student at Cornell University, and usually spent his vacations in this village. His illness compelled him to leave schools, and he came here for medical treatment, at the hands of his uncle, Dr. J.M. Maloney. His mother, who resides at Geneva, was with him during his illness, and cared for him in the best possible manner. The funeral service was held from the Harpending House on Monday afternoon, Rev. A. Frederick officiating. Burial in Hillside.
