The following narrative is by Cherie J.:
She was a sister of my grandmother Anna Bell Ham Garvin (1861-1955). Their parents were Robert Nicholas Ham and Eliza Jane Swim Ham.
My mother Frances Margaret Barnes Garvin and I would walk to visit Great Aunt Mary in her home a few blocks from ours. I loved vising her. She was a very elderly lady and I was very young. She would graciously receive us, and let me play with her little dog and her wonderful children's toys. They were antique toys and among the most enchanting and engrossing toys with which I had ever played. In the last years that we visited before she died, Aunt Mary would kindly receive Mother and me at her bedside.
Aunt Mary first married Hiram Johnson (born 1859). They had a son, Clarence Clifton Johnson (1878-1947), who married Mary Molly Padgett.
In 1906 in Prowers County, Colorado, she married Charles Foster Hoisington (1849-1925). (He is buried in Lawn W, Lot 210, Space 1 next to Mary Etta's grave site in Space 2.)
Great Aunt Mary Etta went to the Oklahoma Land Rush. There,
She set up a tent restaurant and did a thriving business.
How special it was to have known such a wonderful lady as Aunt Mary Etta!
