Dana was the oldest child of eight and the first born son of six of Leland Miles Stevens and Orrie Ella Elwell.

He married Beryl Evelyn McLaughlin on 10 November 1937 in Island Falls, Aroostook, Maine and together they had four children.

DANVERS-Mr. Dana E. Stevens, 94, of Danvers, beloved husband of Beryl E. (McLaughlin) Stevens, died Monday, July 14, 2008 in the Cedar Glen Healthcare.

Born and raised in Merrill, Maine, he was the son of the late Leland and Orrie (Elwell) Stevens. He received his education in the Merrill school system.

Mr. Stevens had been employed for many years as a heating technician for the former Elliot Fuel Company in Danvers, until the time of his retirement. Prior to that , he worked for the General Electric Company in Lynn and was raised as a potato farmer in Aroostook County in Maine.

A resident of the Town of Danvers since 1940, he was a member of the Mosaic Lodge A.F.& A.F. in Danvers. He and his wife were avid square dancers and were members of the Riverside Squares. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman.

In addition to his wife, with whom he shared 70 years of marriage, Dana is survived by two daughters, Darla Ellery and her husband, Richard, of Danvers and Lisa Stevens of Danvers, two sons, Richard A. Stevens and his wife, Joan of Linneus, Maine, and Kevin C. Stevens and his wife, Heidi of Lincoln, Maine, five grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren,, two sisters, Norma Rockwell of New Hampshire and Ruth McNeil of Danvers, two brothers, Leland Stevens of Ipswich and Phil Stevens, many neices and nephews. He was also brother of the late William Stevens, Dwight Stevens and Waldo Stevens.

ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral service will be held in the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St. (Route 62) Danvers, Friday at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Danvers. Visiting hours Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. For more information, inquire at 978-774-6600.
