Son of Thomas (Tom) Young Taylor and Lelia Donnell (Pittman) Taylor/VanMeter. Grandparents were William B. "Buck" Taylor and Ella Jane (Griffith) Taylor/Garland/Gale, and, Samuel Houston Pittman and Mary Catherine "Katie" (Buchanan)Pittman.
His Great-Grandparents included Chesley Marion Buchanan (Civil War vet) and Cora (Donnell) Buchanan, both of Prescott, Nevada County, ARK.
"Buck" married Novie Sauer (she died February 15, 2013) on November 15, 1947, in Houston, TX, and in 1972 he opened Taylor Wholesale Florist in Houston. He was widely known and respected in the floral industry.
He entered the Marine Corps in 1941, attaining the rank of Platoon Sergeant. He served aboard the cruiser the USS Honolulu for three years.
