"Patrick Healy of Slater Guards Claimed By Death
Dudley Man Saw Action in 34 Major Engagements
During Civil War and Had Splendid Record of Service

.... At the outbreak of the Civil War he was one of the first to enlist in Co. I, 15th Mass. Regiment. Mr. Healy was the only Dudley survivor of the Slater Guards, and of which Elias Wakefield is the only survivor. He saw service in 34 major engagements of the Civil War and some of these were Gettysburg, Antietam, Balls Bluff, and the Battle of the Wilderness.

...The four children who survive him are Edward, John, Elizabeth and Mary, and he is also survived by seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren

He was well known to many of the residents of Dudley and his death while expected came as a shock to the residents of both Webster and Dudley...."
